Calor Gas Developing Lpg MicroCHP
Calor Gas Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding with Energetix Genlec Ltd to develop and commercialise an lpg variant of Genlec’s Kingston microCHP product.
Calor will train its Calor Force personnel on the product’s installation and after care and develop a sales, marketing and launch plan for the product. In addition, Calor will establish a distribution route and commit to a minimum purchase in exchange for exclusive use of the lpg Kingston microCHP.
Paul Riding, innovation & policy manager at Calor Gas, said: “We fully recognise the important role that microCHP will play in the future of the heating market in the UK. We are pleased to be working closely with Energetix with the aim of launching a low cost microCHP solution for our customers. When available, the Kingston lpg microCHP should help to reduce both the size of fuel bills and CO2 emissions of homes beyond the gas grid.”
Tony Stiff, group commercial director at Energetix Group, said: “Building on our microCHP platform development to access off-gas grid markets is an obvious step forward for the company, and working with Calor Gas to begin the exploitation of this market will bring their considerable expertise in the off-gas grid market.”
