31st World LPG Forum – event round up

The 2nd – 4th October saw the 31st World LPG Forum event take place in Houston, which LP Gas Today supported for the 3rd consecutive year as media partner.

The event, which is held annually, saw media, policy makers and delegates from around the world travel to network and discuss LPG.

The venue for this year’s event was fitting, given that Houston has a rich history in the energy sector and houses a number of firms in the industry. The forum kicked off its Communications session with an introduction from Alison Abbott, Communications Director at the World LPG Association.

Among the agenda for the popular industry event was the launch of a new product by Nigerian firm Techno Oil Ltd. The company unveiled its new TechnoGas LPG cylinders during the three day forum, showcasing their export offering. The event also saw a presentation from Tecogen’s Robert Panora. Robert, the company’s president and chief operating officer spoke to the delegates about the Waltham based business’ forklift truck emissions programme.

The 31st event demonstrated the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of those in the sector, with a huge 89 companies exhibiting their wares and 1,500 people in attendance over the course of the three days.

Feedback on social media from the event suggested that visitors from around the globe enjoyed the forum, with companies such as ENOC (Emirates National Oil Company) tweeting their thoughts. The CPA (Canadian Propane Association) was represented by Nathalie St-Pierre who discussed ‘A time of transition in the Americas.’

Other topics up for discussion included the role LPG has to play in development. Nick Quintong discussed the use of a smart gas system and how such appliances can help lower income households. Other notable speakers on development included Wanjiku Manyara and Alexandra Garcia. World Central Kitchen’s use of LPG to assist in relief efforts across the globe also made for interesting and thought provoking discussions.

Next year’s event will take place in Amsterdam and will be in conjunction with Liquid Gas Europe.
